I owned a dog as a boy, but since poor old Snowy departed for the great kennel in the sky, my circumstances have been such that I’ve been unable to give a home to another. That’s all changed now, and my wife and I are on the lookout for the right dog to fit in with our hectic lifestyle. Taking on a pet is a huge responsibility and not one we take lightly, and we may even opt for a rescue dog.

Did I mention that I think Cesar Milan’s training methods could be applied just as effectively to children?

Corgi promptly rehomed prior to opening of Dogs Trust

One lucky dog that needed a home has been granted his wish by the kind-hearted workers at Loughborough’s Dogs Trust facility. What’s even more remarkable about this story is the fact that the dog, who is a five-month-old Corgi cross named Cracker, was taken into the charity months before its opening was due to take place in the summer, later this year. Colin and Pat Gee from Hathern immediately fell in love with young Cracker when a staff meeting regarding the preparation for the Dog’s Trust opening saw four pooches brought in. These dogs came from a nearby dog (more) ShareVN:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)VN:F [1.9.13_1145]Rating: 0 (from 0 votes)» Post Ad Purchase:  Intext Link  Read More →

Potty training for puppies

Potty training for puppies

Your new puppy is bound to be adorable and seemingly beyond reprimand – until you see the mess that he or she has made on the floor in your home. This can send even the most patient new dog owner into despair when they become caught in a constant pattern of cleaning their floor. Bad habits such as this can be hard to break and this is why, no matter how cute you find your puppy, it is never too early to avoid them developing bad habits by starting your potty training regime as soon as you bring the puppy home. Family receives gift of Siberian Husky

A family in the Casnovia Township area of Michigan sadly lost their Siberian husky stud dog to a previous owner on Boxing day. To make them feel better after losing such a close companion in the family, a caring couple from the same area decided to give a warm, fluffy gift to the family; a Siberian husky puppy. The couple, who breed Siberian huskies for a living, said how one of their dogs gave birth to a litter of pups at the beginning of November. To show their consideration, especially over the Christmas period, the couple offered the family a new pet husky free of charge. This came about after the couple (more) ShareVN:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...Rating: 10.0/10 (1 vote cast)VN:F [1.9.13_1145]Rating: +1 (from 1 vote)» Post Ad Purchase:  Intext Link  Read More →

Wolves became dogs without much human design

Wolves became dogs without much human design

A piece of recent research has suggested that the evolution of dogs was not necessarily caused by human intervention. The latest findings have indicated that the transition was a geographically uneven one. A prominent biologist called Susan Crockford has found a well-preserved Siberian skull from a creature that lived over 30,000 years ago; her studies of this find have suggested to her that the development of the modern dog was not primarily the consequence of a human act. Susan Crockford has been part of an international research team. Together, they have collated evidence, which they believe indicates that wolves became (more) ShareVN:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)VN:F [1.9.13_1145]Rating: 0 (from 0 votes)» Post Ad Purchase:  Intext Link  Read More →

Teach your puppy to sit

Teach your puppy to sit

When you first bring a puppy home, he or she will be a complete bundle of energy and bounce, into all of the nooks and crannies of your home and generally causing havoc. This can be adorable but after a while however, you will want to begin to teach your dog a few commands that will make your little puppy a lot easier to control. One of the first commands that you should teach your puppy is to sit. If your dog is sitting, they are a lot more attentive than when running around. If your dog is taught to sit, you will be able to easily put the collar on when it is (more) ShareVN:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...Rating: 0.0/10 (0 votes cast)VN:F [1.9.13_1145]Rating: 0 (from 0 votes)» Post Ad Purchase:  Intext Link  Read More →

European dogs derive from some Asian breeds

European dogs derive from some Asian breeds

New research has shown that the origins of dog breeds in the western world are different from what was previously first thought. It was discovered through the research that dogs which came from ancient south-east Asia had a substantial influence on dog breeds in Europe, as well as in the United States. Initiated by a team of researchers at the University of California (UC), Davis, a study looked into the theory that most of the canine breeds in the western world originally derived from dogs which hailed from the Middle East and also from early western civilisations. It was found that this idea is unlikely to be correct, due to it appearing that pet dogs in Europe and in the US actually originate (more) ShareVN:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...Rating: 7.0/10 (1 vote cast)VN:F [1.9.13_1145]Rating: 0 (from 0 votes)» Post Ad Purchase:  Intext Link  Read More →

Abandoned dog hopes to find new home

Abandoned dog hopes to find new home

A Staffordshire Bull Terrier was left on a wet and cold winter night after being attached to a post outside a dog sanctuary. The dog has now been renamed Bobby after a policeman who rescued him at 3am from his dire circumstances just outside of the Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, in North Anston, South Yorkshire. Bobby is currently at the sanctuary waiting to find a friendly new home and Sarah Froggat, who helps out there, said: “This is the third time we have found dogs dumped this way in as many weeks, but this was the first in these circumstances for a long time. The fear in (more) ShareVN:F [1.9.13_1145]please wait...Rating: 6.0/10 (1 vote cast)VN:F [1.9.13_1145]Rating: 0 (from 0 votes)» Post Ad Purchase:  Intext Link  Read More →
