Dog named after meerkat seeks out a loving home

If you have seen the TV adverts for comparethemarket.com, you will know that Sergei the meerkat plays a leading role in marketing the insurance company. Sergei the meerkat is loved for his funny personality and distinct features, which are similar to the features of an abandoned dog that was recently found in the West Midlands area. When dog wardens were patrolling Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, they found a small, malnourished dog that had no place to go.

After being taken in by workers at the Birmingham Dogs’ Home, the dog was quickly given the name of Sergei. This decision was met as a result of his unique appearance and similarity to the famous meerkat. Sergei has been at the Birmingham Dogs’ Home for weeks now, but sadly he has not yet found someone to care for him. Workers at the dog home suspect that the reason relates to his resemblance to the meerkat from comparethemarket.com.

Despite there being minimal interest in adopting Sergei, it is believed that he would make a great addition to any household. The manager of Birmingham Dogs’ Home, Karen Doy, said

“It’s such a shame as this lovely little dog is being passed over every time because he has a short lower jaw that gives him a Meerkat expression and it worries potential owners.”

As dog home workers attempt to gain exposure for Sergei, who has not had the best start in life, it is hoped that someone will soon step forward to give the dog the happiness he deserves.
