Surely all breeders of any breed, not just GSD should have the dogs health as its absolute raison d'etre. It doesn't matter if you lose money or have a couple of generations of dogs that lose out on certification if the end result would be a happier healthier dog-that's what we are supposed to be about. We have rescued several GSD's that have had hip problems and know the heartbreak that owners go through not to say expense in treatment. So surely it is time to stop whining and sort ourselves out NOW! I am heartily sick of seeing so-called show-quality dogs staggering around hardly able to walk_ now I will just sit back and wait for the abuse from other breeders who will try to justify this....and yes I am in the process of breeding from dogs that have straight top-lines and without exaggerated slope. I am telling potential owners-and I have many-that these will be good strong working dogs and not 'show-quality'dogs, and lo and behold-that is what owners want-only breeders want these disfigured and disabled dogs!
