Dog-lover Daley knits jumpers

He may be best known for his impressive diving talent, but it seems Olympic gold medal winner Tom Daley has another hobby in his spare time, as he was recently spotted knitting a purple dog jumper in Tokyo.

Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black first demonstrated their love of canines in 2017 during their honeymoon in Hawaii, as they posed for a photograph with a cute pup named Stewie.

The 27-year-old British champion took to creating the adorable woollen jumpers during the first of the Covid-19 lockdowns in March 2020, and now he puts his skills to good use, as he has revealed that his latest creation was intended for the Instagram star Izzy the Frenchie, a four-year-old French Bulldog from New York.

The loveable pooch has a million followers, and she’s often pictured wearing a variety of outfits and accessories. The popular pup became an instant sensation in 2017 as a puppy, and she became an ambassador for The Plaza Hotel in New York City the following year.

Daley’s full range of handmade dog jumpers is featured on his own Instagram page, among other designs, with several modelled beautifully by various breeds of dogs. The diver posted on his social media page that he had made his friends some doggy jumpers.

Daley has admitted that he now has an obsession with knitting and crochet, and that he has brought an extra suitcase of yarn along with him to Tokyo, as he fears running out during his time in Japan.
