Dogs dress up for fundraising event in Lawford

The sun was out in full force on Sunday and the pleasant weather enticed people of all ages to attend the Foxash Social and Sports Club Dog Fun Day, which took place in Lawford.

The fundraising event takes place each year and the turnout was even better than expected. Approximately 200 animal lovers were present at the shindig, many of whom were pet owners, as 121 dogs entered the competition.

Various breeds fought for the limelight as they wore their best costumes. Two rings of judges awarded the pooches based on the skill shown in the dog agility demonstrations. For those who didn’t gain recognition with dog agility demonstrations, awards were presented to the best-dressed dogs. Aside from the competition, attendees were able to play games, enjoy refreshments and check out trade and gift stands.

Louise Jacobs was the organiser of the Foxash Social and Sports Club Dog Fun Day, and was surprised at the turnout. Speaking about the day, she said:

“I wasn’t expecting it to be so busy but it was and people came from all over – Kent, Cambridge, Brentwood. We had a stall raising money for Mistley Farm Park and all the money from the show and the raffle will go to K9 Lifesavers, which I am part of.”

All proceeds from the Foxash Social and Sports Club Dog Fun Day were generously donated to the K9 Lifesavers Charity. This non-profit organization aims to save the lives of dogs in the United Kingdom. Currently, the charity has kennels in Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Wales.
