Prepare for the arrival of your new puppy

So, you are bringing home a new puppy, but before you do there are certain aspects that you need to consider, such as preparing your home and garden for their arrival.

When you welcome a new puppy into your home it can be quite stressful for your puppy, as it will be a strange environment for him to get used to. He is no longer with his mother or the rest of the litter, and there will be new people and different expectations.

It is extremely important to ensure that you take time to prepare for your pup’s arrival and make your home as safe as it possibly can be. You will also need to ensure that you have all the essentials that you will need, such as a dog collar, a dog basket, and plenty of newspaper for toilet training…

Make your home puppy proof; look close to the ground and see if there is anything unsafe or anything that you would not want your puppy to chew. Ensure that loose articles are not on the floor, such as shoes; although he may look cute when playing with your shoe, this can turn to frustration if he develops a habit for chewing them to pieces.

Put away objects on your coffee table, as a puppy will find that it is exciting to try and get things out of his reach. Hide away anything breakable and make sure that hazardous materials, such as cleaning products or anything that could be poisonous, are locked away.

Secure all wires and electrical cords and get children to put their toys away.
