Mark Labbett, star of quiz show The Chase, has revealed that his incredible weight loss has been thanks to his very own personal trainer pup.
In 2016, after a nurse noticed skin on his legs that was not healing properly, Labbett was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. The past year has seen the quiz expert embark on a health and fitness regime that has resulted in him losing an impressive 10 stone.
Doctors told Labbett that a gastric bypass or band would not be possible because of the high levels of sugar in his diet. This was a wake-up call for the star and prompted him to change his diet and start his new exercise plan.
The quiz master has given credit to his pet Golden Retriever, Baloo, for keeping him on track with his strict regime. Talking to presenters Dermot O’Leary and Joanna Page on ITV’s The Pet Show, Labbett said that his wife had handed over responsibility for their pooch to him to help keep him motivated. He went on to say that simply walking his beloved pet and taking him to different places helped to keep him active.
After posting a picture of himself looking trim on Twitter, fans were quick to praise him, with one person saying that any more weight loss and he would have to change his quiz show name from The Beast.
Labbett has been open about his weight loss journey, which has seen him go from size 5XL to XL.
