Toowoomba man ties knot with his pet Labrador

As a nation of dog lovers, the UK is well known for spoiling their four legged friends. One only has to take a stroll around the nearest pet shop or idly browse the internet to see the dog baskets, collars, toys and treats available to shower on your pet. In fact, many owners consider their dogs to be part of the family, and treat them like a favourite child.

However, some would say that one man in Toowoomba, Australia, has taken his love for his pet Labrador a little too far.

In an emotional ceremony, Joseph Guiso gave an emphatic ‘Yes!’ when asked if he accepted five year old Honey’s paw in marriage.

Joseph Guiso and his dog HoneyThe wedding, which was conducted in Garden City, Laurel Bank Park, was attended by more than thirty of the happy couple’s closest friends and family, and took place at dusk.

As part of the wedding vows, Mr Guiso declared:

“You’re my best friend and you make every part of my day better.”

The idea of marrying his dog occurred to Mr Guiso as he walked Honey, who he adopted five years ago, through the park, and stumbled upon the wedding ceremony of a (human) couple.

It’s not known whether he managed to find a ring to fit upon Honey’s paw, or whether the wedding cake comprised of rabbit, chicken and succulent jelly. Even so, we at Dream Dogs shudder to think what the starry eyed Mr Guiso’s take on their honeymoon is…
