Martin Clunes and his dogs wins the ratings war for ITV

A staggering 5.5 million viewers tuned in to watch Men Behaving Badly star, Martin Clunes, in his dogumentary on ITV on Sunday night. This comprehensively beat the BBC’s ‘Fiona’s Story’ into second place.

Martin Clunes: A Man and his Dogs was the second part of a two part documentary where the comedian charted the history of men and dogs throughout the last few thousand years, from their beginnings as wolves through to the pedigree dogs we have today.

The second part of the documentary, which was screened on ITV on Sunday night, showed Martin being rescued by a mountain rescue dog, and had him freeing African Wild Dogs from their cages. The show pulled in 22.6% of the total audience share for the 9-10pm slot for ITV.
