No, it’s nothing to do with a new TV show by Simon Cowell, it’s a choir being formed in Swansea for singing dogs. Dogs from the area with great singing voices and wanted to join the canine choir and pay tribute to a local dog from the area that used to rescue swimmers who were drowning in the Swansea docks.
Local dogs from Swansea are being auditioned for their singing voices by artist Richard Higlett.
The song is called ‘A Song For Jack’ and is to be performed at a concert in Swansea city, by the dogs.
Richard Higlett discusses the notion of a doggy choir:
Dogs sing together instinctively as part of a pack, their sense of community.
In Swansea there are so many breeds with different characters and voices and all have a relationship, like us, with the place in which they live. I felt it a fitting homage to Swansea Jack whose instinct was to be a hero. It is also about fun, a celebration.
If your dog has a beautiful singing voice and you think they’d be interested in singing in the choir, the auditions are being held in the garden at Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum on the 17th of August.
Just like the X-Factor, a panel of judges will be deciding the fate of the doggie entrants. You can enter your dog by emailing locws@locwsinternational.com or you can visit the website.
