It can make your life a whole lot easier if you give your dog some basic obedience training. Discouraging bad behaviour can mean that life with your pet runs a lot more smoothly and that your dog is well socialised with other animals and humans outside of your family – which can make dog walking a lot easier!
There are two main ways that you can train your dog – either at home using dog training manuals or videos, or through attending dog training classes. If you have never trained a dog or new puppy before, it may be easier to take your dog to training classes where a tutor can point you in the right direction in terms of the behaviour and discipline to instill in your pooch. In the home, it can be easy for either you or the dog to get distracted, or you may find that days have passed and you have not got round to focussing your efforts on dog training. Particularly if you have a new puppy, they can be so cute that you may feel like you just cannot discipline your pet! An experienced dog trainer can guide you through handling your dog and give your dog exposure to other animals so that your pet grows up to be well behaved and friendly around other dogs.
You will find with dog training classes that not only is your dog being trained but so are you! You will pick up experience and tips on how to be the leader of the pack and command your pet’s respect.
