Yorkshire shepherdess to judge dog show

Much-loved canine competition The Harrogate Dog Show is returning to the North Yorkshire town this spring, and its organisers have announced a celebrity judge.

Better known as the “The Yorkshire Shepherdess”, Amanda Owen will now award the overall prize of “Best in Show” at the April event.

A presenter, author and genuine English shepherdess, Owen works and resides at the remote Ravenseat Farm based in Swaledale, a remote northern dale in Yorkshire. After rising to fame on social media she wrote four successful books starting with her debut biography “The Yorkshire Shepherdess” and has appeared on multiple television shows.

The dog show will also award prizes for several different categories including “Cutest Puppy” “Fanciest Female”, “Handsomest Dog”, and “Dog the Judge Would Most Like to Take Home” among others.

Now in its fourth year, the big day for dog lovers in Yorkshire is organised annually by Harrogate BID. Commenting on its popularity, operations executive for the non-profit organisation, Bethany Allen, said that in 2024 all categories sold out in under an hour, and encouraged dog owners wishing to participate to arrive at the show early. She added:

“We can’t wait to bring back this excellent event to our town centre and look forward to seeing all of you and your furry friends for some fantastic fun.”

The Harrogate Dog Show will be held on Saturday, April 12. Registration will open at 10 am on the day, and the event will get started from 11 am.
